Dance Your Way Through Loneliness

I truly believe that one of the best things in life is sharing joy & making people smile. This is exactly why I had the idea to create this VT for the BBC Morning Live.

Young adults between the ages of 18 to 22 are the loneliest age group. Social isolation is as harmful to health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Loneliness can increase the risk of premature death by up to 50%.

Attending a dance class provides a holistic approach to health, addressing both physical and mental well-being. The combination of exercise, social interaction, and creative expression makes dance a unique and enjoyable way to stay fit, healthy & happy.

I can’t express how emotional and proud I am for my first VT on the BBC Morning Live show this morning, the first of many to come to help people battle mental health problems through Dance. Something I have been preparing for a while, something very close to my heart and something I wanted to share and help spread the word.

Thank you Mavis Ackerley for presenting - I adore you!

Our guest Sally - I am so happy you liked your class and it made you feel JOY & included!

I extend my deepest gratitude to all my amazing students who participated in this venture:

You all were amazing!

Leandro Palou - my amazing husband for supporting me through everything.

I hope that this initiative serves as an inspiration, spreading the joy and therapeutic benefits of dance to all those who may need it. Let's dance away loneliness & embrace the power of collective joy!

Much love always, Maria Tsiatsiani
